CRL Cognitive Research Labs, Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Dr. Hideto Tomabechi, hereinafter CRL) has announced the launch of a new franchise learning center brand, “PEGASUS GOLD,” developed in collaboration with Pegasus Co., Ltd.(Headquarters: Fukuoka City, Fukuoka Prefecture).

Pegasus Co., Ltd., with its 35-year history and over 200 franchise learning centers nationwide, has teamed up with Dr. Hideto Tomabechi to create “PEGASUS GOLD,” a new brand of franchise learning centers. In addition to the conventional support for opening and managing learning centers, PEGASUS GOLD will offer a curriculum designed by Dr. Tomabechi to train highly motivated principals, as well as learning environments and software based on Tomabechi’s theories. For the first phase, we are accepting applications from potential franchise owners, limited to two candidates.

［Profile of Dr. Hideto Tomabechi］
Dr. Hideto Tomabechi was born in Tokyo in 1959. He is a cognitive scientist and computer scientist, holding a Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University (CMU). He has been an Adjunct Fellow at CMU’s CyLab. After studying communication at the University of Massachusetts and graduating from Sophia University’s Faculty of Foreign Languages, he worked at Mitsubishi Estate for two years. He then studied computer science and artificial intelligence at Yale University as a Fulbright scholar before transferring to Carnegie Mellon University, where he completed his Ph.D. in computational linguistics. Dr. Tomabechi has held various positions, including Associate Professor at Tokushima University, Director of the Justsystem Basic Research Institute, and a member of the Advisory Council on Information Processing at the Ministry of International Trade and Industry.

・Overview: Founded in 1980 by Toshiaki Tanaka and two university friends, Pegasus began as an individual tutoring center. In 1986, Pegasus Planning was established, pioneering the franchise model in the tutoring industry. In 1993, the company introduced computer-based learning systems, which were rare at the time. Pegasus has since developed proprietary software covering all subjects from elementary to junior high school and continues to update these systems.
