Dr. Hideto Tomabechi Appointed Visiting Professor at George Mason University’s C4I and Cyber Center

Dr. Hideto Tomabechi, CEO and Principal Scientist of CRL, has been appointed Visiting Professor at The Center for Excellence in Command, Control, Communications, Computing, Intelligence, and Cyber (C4I and Cyber Center) at George Mason University.
The C4I and Cyber Center is the only civilian university- based entity in the United States offering a comprehensive academic and research program in military applications of information technology and cyber security.

Located on the main campus of George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, the Center benefits from its proximity to Washington D.C., facilitating close collaboration with the U.S. Department of Defense. The Center is a cutting-edge research institution in U.S. defense, featuring numerous active and retired U.S. military leaders, including Professor Linton Wells, a former Assistant Secretary and DoD Chief Information Officer, with whom Dr. Tomabechi will collaborate on research projects.

Dr. Tomabechi will primarily engage in research and instruction in Cyber Resilience, Cyber Intelligence, Cyber AI Warfare, and Cognitive Warfare. He has already delivered his first lecture in Cyber AI to experts and graduate students in these fields.

The C4I and Cyber Center conducts integrated research on military command and control systems, information systems, and cyber defense, making it a leading institution in U.S. cyber defense research. It plays a pivotal role in advancing cyber resilience, cyber intelligence, and cognitive warfare, key areas of focus for the Department of Defense.

Dr. Tomabechi has been an Adjunct Fellow at CyLab, Carnegie Mellon University, since 2008, and will continue his role there.

Carnegie Mellon University, a leader in computer science and artificial intelligence, has topped U.S. rankings for over 30 years. CyLab, where Dr. Tomabechi is a Fellow, is renowned for its work in cyber defense and white-hat hacker training, consistently winning the global Capture The Flag competition at DefCon. Dr. Tomabechi plans to leverage his expertise to enhance educational programs at George Mason University.

Dr. Tomabechi received his Ph.D. from Carnegie Mellon University in 1993. In addition to his roles at Carnegie Mellon University and George Mason University, he will serve as a liaison for the George Mason University C4I and Cyber Center in Japan, supporting the introduction of cutting-edge cyber defense education in Japanese educational institutions and related organizations.
